1. Trim the Wick: Before lighting or relighting your candle, trim the wick to approximately 1/4 inch in length. This helps promote an even burn, prevents excessive soot, and eliminates any carbon buildup or mushrooming at the end of the wick.

2. Choose a Safe Surface: Always place your candle on a stable and heat-resistant surface. Avoid flammable materials, such as wood or fabric.

3. Light with Care: Use a long-handled lighter or matches to ignite your candle.

4. Allow Wax to Pool: When you first light your candle, allow it to burn long enough for the entire top layer of wax to become a pool of liquid before extinguishing it to prevent tunnelling.

5. Keep Away from Kids and Pets: Ensure candles are out of reach of children and pets.

6. Extinguish Safely: Use a candle snuffer or gently blow out the flame to extinguish the candle. Avoid blowing too forcefully, as this can lead to hot wax splattering. Double-check that the flame is completely extinguished and the wick is no longer glowing before leaving the room.
